- According to a California Highway Patrol report released on Thursday, Dec. 22, Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe had a blood alcohol content of .121% and .124%, according to two chemical breath tests administered after his DUI arrest in March 2022. Thorpe also allegedly failed several field sobriety tests that night. (Contra Costa Herald)
- On Christmas Day, a woman who was walking alone on Wilson Lane near Dianda Drive told police that a man grabbed her and sexually assaulted her before trying to kidnap her. Police arrested Michael Anton on charges of attempted kidnapping and sexual assault related to the incident. "Police say their investigation showed that Anton may have approached other women who were walking by themselves in the area." (KRON4)
- Look at that face!! This sweet little mink was rescued behind the Antioch Police Department earlier this week. The mink has been rehabilitating at the Lindsay Wildlife preserve and, authorities say, is now ready to be returned to the wild. Awwwwww. (Claycord.com)
- A driver was reported to the Pittsburg police at least seven times since November 1 for doing donuts in downtown Pittsburg. Police finally caught him in the act. "The juvenile driver was unlicensed and was operating the vehicle while under the influence of marijuana, according to police." (Claycord.com)
- The Pioneer has put together an awesome retrospective on 2022. From Mayor Aliano's first- ever column, to the Ugly Eagle's first-ever victory, to District 4 Supervisor Karen Mitchoff's last ever address, they've got it all. 2022 was one for the history books!
