Monument Crisis Center Receives $7K Donation In Time For Holidays

CONCORD, CA — Thanks to a recent $7,000 donation from Pacific Service Credit Union, the Monument Crisis Center in Concord will be able to provide holiday meals, fresh produce, milk and eggs to Contra Costa County families in need this holiday season.

"We appreciate the remarkable support Monument Crisis Center has provided to thousands of families in crisis throughout the years and we know that needs are especially crucial around the holidays," said Kristin Peterson, manager of business development for Pacific Service Credit Union.

Peterson presented the donation in the form of a giant check from Pacific Service Credit Union, which is headquartered in Concord and is a longtime supporter of Monument Crisis Center.

Sandra Scherer, executive director of the Monument Crisis Center, was on hand to accept the check and expressed the center's gratitude for the generous donation made just in time for the holidays.

"We are so grateful for the continued and generous support of Pacific Service Credit Union," Scherer said. "This thoughtful donation will provide holiday meals, fresh produce, milk and eggs to so many families in need this holiday season. We appreciate their contribution because it provides nutritious meals and a chance for our families to enjoy the holidays together."

The Monument Crisis Center, 1900 Market St., is a 501C (3) nonprofit organization that serves 100 new families each month, and over 9,500 people each year. MCC serves Contra Costa County families, seniors and individuals who are in crisis situations by providing them with food, education, safety-net services, tools and assistance, concrete referrals and resources, and pathways toward health and self-sufficiency.
