More Victims Surface In Concord Dental Assistant Investigation

Two more girls have come forward as victims of a dental assistant who was arrested on suspicion of molesting a sedated 8-year-old girl.

CONCORD - Two more girls have come forward as victims in the case of a dental assistant who was arrested on suspicion of molesting a sedated 8-year-old girl in a Concord dental office, police said Friday.

The under 10-year-old girls are just three of the many victims potentially associated with the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Alejandro Saro, Cpl. Christopher Blakely said.

The Antioch resident was arrested on Saturday after officers responded to a report of child molestation that occurred at the La Clinica Monument dental office at 2000 Sierra Road, Blakely said.

Saro, a dental assistant at the office, allegedly touched and photographed a girl's vaginal area as she was being sedated with medical gas in the exam room, according to police.

The girl later told a relative what happened and the incident was reported to police. Saro was then arrested on suspicion of child molestation.

Saro, who is being held at Martinez Detention Facility on $8.1 million bail, has been charged with eight counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child and a count of possessing child pornography, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.

Concord police detectives are continuing to investigate the case, Blakely said.

Blakely said the dental office Saro worked for has been cooperative with that investigation.

The allegations came "as a huge surprise" to the office's employees, Blakely said.

Saro has worked at La Clinica Monument since March 2015 and worked at Concord's Patino Orthodontics before that, as well as Concord and Antioch locations of Western Dental, according to police.

All three victims' allegations stem from dental visits to La Clinica Monument.

Blakely said it's difficult to gauge how many additional victims there are.

But he said the number was high, based on plethora of videos allegedly found in Saro's possession of victims not yet identified.

Given that the incidents occurred under sedation, Blakely said identifying all of the victims is going to require a lengthy investigation.

He said anyone who recognizes the suspect or had contact with him and noticed suspicious behavior should contact police.
