🌱More Wild Weather On The Way + Roads Closed Due To Flooding

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

(Patch Media)

Hello, everybody! It's Jeri Karges, your host of the Concord Daily. Keep reading for the most important things happening in town these days. Today we'll cover these stories and more:

  • Don't let a little rain stop you from enjoying the Concord Farmers' Market today!
  • You'll have to wait a couple of weeks to hang out with the animals at the Oakland Zoo. It's closed until at least January 17.
  • Get out on the trails for the 30th annual East Bay Parks Trails Challenge.

But first, today's weather:

Cloudy. High: 54 Low: 44.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. Another atmospheric river is set to come through Wednesday and into Thursday, but this one isn't supposed to pack quite as much of a wallop for the East Bay as the last one did. Our neighbors to the north, however, may be in for a wild ride. Marin and the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Highway 9 is already washed out north of Boulder Creek and south of Felton, will see the brunt of this next system. The winds around here will still be wicked, though, and we'll see over an inch of precipitation. (SF Gate via MSN)
  2. Old Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek is a wall of mud today due to a big mudslide over the weekend. Check out the pictures but do yourself a favor and stay away from the area. (Claycord.com)
  3. Marsh Creek Road between the Round Valley Regional Preserve in unincorporated Contra Costa County remained closed to the public Monday, due to flood damage. It was open to residents only. Also,"Happy Valley Road [was] closed between Bear Creek Road and the Lafayette city limit due to a tree down across the road." It's a mess out there! (Claycord.com)
  4. Andy Amstutz, co-founder of Lamorinda Village, recently was announced as the winner of the Don Jenkins/Lamorinda Village Service Award at the Lafayette Community Center. "Don and Andy were at the inception of the Village and became founding board members," said Executive Director of Lamorinda Village Kathryn Ishizu. "They worked for years to develop the organization. I think Don would be very pleased to have Andy as his first honoree." (theorindanews.com)

The 30th annual Trails Challenge is sponsored by the Regional Parks Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, and East Bay Regional Park District. To complete the challenge, hike five of the 20 trails, or 26.2 miles of trails within East Bay Regional Park District.
