Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- People in Martinez are reporting a "white dust" on their vehicles. The Martinez Refining Company, which earlier reported flaring at its refinery, is investigating the dust. They have taken samples and are having them analyzed at a lab to determine what the substance is. "If you have white dust on your vehicle, please email MRC.CommunityRelations@pbfenergy.com." (Claycord.com)
- Don't miss the annual tree lighting and mayor's sing along at Todos Santos Plaza on December 2! Everybody's gonna be there! Entertainment will be provided by the Concord High School Jazz Band, Concord High School Ladies First choir, D'Ann's Academy of Dance, Queen of All Saints cheerleaders, and The 925 Band. And I have it on good authority that Santa himself is going to make an appearance. (Pioneer Publishers)
- An employee of the Extra Mile convenience store at 2701 Contra Loma Boulevard in Antioch was held up at gunpoint early Saturday morning. Unfortunately, he ended up being the victim of a robbery gone wrong when the assailants shot him in the head during the incident. Officers tried lifesaving efforts, but the victim did not survive. "Currently, detectives are interviewing witnesses in the area and are working to identify all the parties involved to include suspects or persons-of-interest." (News 24/680)
- Montesacro in Walnut Creek opened its doors to the public, yesterday. If you think this is "just" a pizza joint, you are wrong. It's a pinsa joint. "What's a pinsa?" You ask? "Pinsa uses three kinds of flour (soy, rice, and wheat) in its dough, creating a lighter and airier crust." Sounds delicious! I'm gonna have to check that out - once I'm done with all of the leftover turkey. (Diablo Magazine)

Please bring an unwrapped gift for a foster child or youth. (Contra Costa Herald)
