Nationwide School Walkout: Concord Students Break Through Gate
Students at Mount Diablo High School pushed through a gate Wednesday to take part in the march.

CONCORD, CA — Students at Mount Diablo High School in Concord reportedly broke through a gate Wednesday to take part in a nationwide school walkout meant to raise awareness about gun violence. East Bay Times reports that the campus gates were locked in advance of the 10 a.m. walkout, but that students pushed through a gate to take part.
The 17-minute-long walkout — one minute for every student or staff member lost in the shooting on Feb. 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida — was scheduled to take place across the country at exactly 10 a.m.
"The action [at Mount Diablo High School] was over in several minutes, and students were brought back to campus," the newspaper reported. "The school did make an announcement over the loudspeaker at about 10 a.m. to honor the victims of gun violence."

For my money, the iconic picture for the nationwide walkout. Great shot @AricCrabb at the Mercury News. Mount Diablo High School in Concord California blocks students from walking out. #theypersisted https://t.co/2x8muJt1pw pic.twitter.com/An6B57byEk
