Here are the top stories in Concord today:

  1. Concord First Partners and the City of Concord may finally have an agreement on the $6 billion development plan for the old Naval Weapons Station. The new plan adds over 3,000 houses to the plan that was taken off the table by Concord First, due to financial feasibility. If approved, it will be the largest land redevelopment project in the Bay Area. (The Real Deal)
  2. DTC Wine Symposium 2023 is coming to the Hilton in Concord on January 18 and 19. The symposium will offer several workshop opportunities at the shindig, to cover marketing, branding, wine culture and more. 3. While you're skywatching this month, searching for Santa and his reindeer, you may be treated to another spectacle! The Geminid meteor shower is expected to hit its peak on December 13 and 14. But "Skywatchers in Concord don't have to wait until the Geminids to see color in the sky. The reddish planet Mars, the second-smallest in our solar system, comes within 50 million miles of Earth on Thursday, making its closest approach to our planet as it orbits the sun." (Concord Patch)
  4. The Terraces of Lafayette development can move forward. That's the verdict from a state court of appeals. "Held up in court for about two years, the court upheld a superior court's 2021 decision, finding that the city's 2013 environmental review report complied with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and that the city properly followed the state's housing accountability act in approving the project." (Claycord.com)
  5. Ronald Jackson, Jr. is accused of killing store clerk James Williams during a robbery gone wrong on Contra Loma Boulevard last weekend, but Jackson will not be charged with murder, per the Contra Costa DA's office, based "solely on a legal and factual determination — and not an elective, optional, or discretionary one."
