Hey, neighbors! It's Wednesday in Concord and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening locally, including:

  • Clayton Valley Dance Academy was vandalized for a second time.
  • Several Contra Costa roads are still closed from the New Year's Eve storm.

Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. We have a few new restaurants in our area for you to get your nosh on, Concord! Have you tried Kyoto Ramen Sushi & Hawaiian BBQ on Grant Street in Concord? New offerings also opened in Martinez, Orinda and San Ramon. Check 'em out! (The Oaklandside)
  2. Clayton Valley Dance Academy was vandalized for the second time in as many weeks. The vandals struck nearby businesses in the Clayton Valley Shopping Center on Ygnacio Valley Road as well. Fortunately, this time nothing was stolen from the dance school. (Claycord.com)
  3. Beginning today, the entire Bay Area is under a flood watch, as a second atmospheric river hits our state. This one is forecast to be as bad as, or worse than, the one that hit on New Year's Eve, according to the National Weather Service. The service is anticipating mudslides and potential loss of life.   4. While we're in the throes of the current weather system, some around here are still cleaning up from the last one. Several roads in unincorporated Contra Costa County are still closed due to flooding and mudslides. "Signs have been posted to alert drivers of the road closures.   5. If the water is coming just a little too close to your home or garage for comfort, now might be the time to pick up some sandbags. Here's a handy list of all of the locations in the Bay Area to pick some up. After several potential start dates for the season were pushed back, the succulent morsels are now being harvested, and that means the start of the crab feed fundraising season, too! Contra Costa News has a list of all of the scheduled crab feeds in the region.
  • "T'ai-chi Ch'uan is an ancient Chinese art which combines meditation in movement and healthful exercise." Try it out at the Walnut Creek Library on January 9.
