No-Cost Green House Call Service
Energy and water efficiency service for residents of Concord funded by the City of Concord, CCWD, and PG&E
Returning to Concord this summer, Rising Sun Energy Center’s California Youth Energy Services (CYES) program will provide Concord residents with no-cost energy and water conservation services through a partnership with PG&E, the City of Concord, and CCWD.
Since 2000, Rising Sun has provided no-cost energy and water conservation services to over 33,700 residents throughout the Bay Area and Central Valley. CYES provides local jobs for local youth by training and employing young adults ages 15 to 22 as Energy Specialists, providing their community’s residents with Green House Calls (GHC).
At each Green House Call, Energy Specialists:

- perform an energy- and water-efficiency assessment,
- install energy-efficient light bulbs (LEDs and CFLs),
- install water-efficient devices for showers, faucets, and toilets,
- perform a toilet leak detection test,
- perform an optional basic solar assessment,
- provide a smart power strip,
- provide e-waste pick-up and disposal,
- provide a compost bin and reusable grocery bag, and
- offer tips on energy and water conservation to save money on utility bills
—all at no cost to residents.
CYES provides services to all community members regardless of income with a focus on serving hard-to-reach residents, including renters, low-to-moderate income households, seniors, and non-English speaking households. The program helps cities reach their Climate Action Plan targets and do their part to address California’s drought.
