Pair In Halloween Masks Shoot Woman, Pistol-Whip Man

BREAKING: Police say the robbery occurred Monday night in Orinda. Female victim in stable condition at John Muir.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – A woman was shot and a man pistol-whipped by two robbers wearing Halloween masks in Orinda Monday night, according to police.

The woman's son reported the Claremont Avenue attack and said she was shot in the arm and hip, Orinda police Chief Mark Nagel wrote in a post on the website Nextdoor.com at about 12 a.m. Tuesday.

The man she was with was reportedly pistol-whipped in the head, according to Nagel.

The woman was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and was in stable condition as of 10 p.m. Monday night, Nagel said.

Police searched the area with dogs and air support from the California Highway Patrol, but the suspects, who fled on foot with the victims' wallet and purse, escaped, according to Nagel.
