Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. The California Highway Patrol determined that Damond Lazenby was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Highway 4 in Concord. Lazenby's body wasn't found until January 7. CHP believes he was outside his vehicle and was struck near the front right portion of his car, and is looking for a dark-colored sedan in relation to the incident. (Claycord.com)
  2. Paradise Skate in Antioch was flooded. The skating rink is one of the last indoor roller rinks in Contra Costa County. The business is now trying to raise funds to replace the maple floor and the carpeting. (Claycord.com)
  3. The Concord Pavilion picked up 14 inches of rain in the last 30 days. Rossmoor weighs in at nearly 20 inches and the peak of Mt. Diablo received a whopping 29.74 inches of rain over that horizon! No wonder it's so muddy and soggy out there! (Contra Costa News)
  4. Last night the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce sought to finalize and adopt the city's Outdoor Dining Ordinance. New fees from participating bars and restaurants will also be required with adoption of the new ordinance. (Contra Costa News)
  5. A new Pedego electric bike shop opened in Lafayette. You can straight-up purchase one of these beauties, or just rent one and take it for a spin. Pedego also has a large supply of accessories and can service your current bike, if needed. For more information, check out its webpage here. Now that we're nearing the end of these storms, it's the perfect time to pack up a picnic lunch and hit the road! (beyondthecreek.com)
