Pedestrian Hit, Killed In Concord: Police

The fatal incident happened on Kirker Pass Road, police said.

CONCORD, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early Saturday in Concord, police said.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday to the incident on Kirker Pass Road between Clearbrook and Myrtle Drive, Concord police Sgt. Murtazah Ghaznawi said.

The pedestrian, a 25-year-old man, crossed Kirker Pass Road and was struck by a car that was traveling southbound on Kirker Pass Road, Ghaznawi said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Contra Costa County coroner's office was expected to release the man's name was his family members were properly notified.

Two lanes of Kirker Pass Road were closed for approximately three hours as the fatal incident was investigated.

Police said the driver, a 30-year-old man, remained on the scene and cooperated with officers.

The investigation was continuing; police asked any witnesses to contact Concord police Traffic Officer Parsley at 925-603-5963.
