🌱Pleasant Hill Library Debut + Wet Weather? + Beaver Eating Ice Cream
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

Hey, everybody! I'm back with your fresh edition of the Concord Daily. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in town.
First, today's weather:
Breezy in the afternoon. High: 83 Low: 59.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Concord Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top five stories today in Concord:
- Contra Costa County has the Bay Area's highest COVID positivity rate, at 12.3% and with graduation and other gatherings happening as we enter this beautiful summer season, officials are concerned that rate is going to go even higher. The good news is that hospitalization rates are not rising. "Masking indoors in public, testing if exposed, staying home if symptomatic and even considering testing if you're going to gatherings with individuals or larger gatherings," is key to staying well said Contra Costa Deputy Health Officer Dr. Sofé Mekuria. (NBC Bay Area)
- The new Pleasant Hill Library at 1700 Oak Park Blvd. will make its official debut on July 30. It will have something for everyone, including a tech zone where you can check out a laptop, a children's play area with a magnetic wall and "messy makers" zone and plenty of space to hang out and read and do homework. For more information on the Pleasant Hill Library, go to https://www.pleasanthillca.org/1226/Library-Project. (Claycord.com)
- In response to a public records release request, Antioch police have released crime data from 2019 to 2021. There was a decline in overall crime, violent crime and arrests in 2020 from 2019. Crimes increased slightly in 2021 from 2020, with arrests down again. (East County Today)
- More wild, whipsaw weather is in store for the Bay Area with a chance of one inch of rain or less over the upcoming weekend. We're just getting the very outer edge of a system that is set to deluge much of the rest of the country. (Claycord.com)
- A man was found floating on the water on the San Joaquin River near the Antioch marina boat ramp on Sunday. Police responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The body was released to the coroner's office. Officials are trying to make an identification. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office Coroner's Division at (925) 313-2850. For any tips, email: tips@so.cccounty.us or call (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message. (East County Today)
