Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- A Pleasant Hill Verizon store was robbed on Saturday. The suspects got away with several cell phones. Pleasant Hill police caught up with them in their getaway vehicle near Harrison Street and Concord Avenue, and the chase was on. Ultimately, the chase ended on the border of Pittsburg and Bay Point, where one of the suspects was taken into custody. The other suspect fled on foot. That suspect was still being sought as of press time. (KRON4)
- An ambulance and a fire engine were responding to an accident on Highway 4 early Sunday morning, when another vehicle crashed into both emergency vehicles. Emergency personnel had no reported injuries, but "the fire engine was placed out of service and the ambulance had to be towed from the scene." (Claycord.com)
- Here's a shoutout to Jane Peterson of Clayton who turns 100 years old on St. Patrick's Day! The near-centenarian has spent her days well, as an active member at Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church and with the Clayton Valley Woman's Club. These days she enjoys visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and I'm sure they enjoy her wise company, too! (Pioneer Publishers)
- Mayor Mike Anderson took home the award of Lafayette Citizen of the Year. "What people remember most is his calm, welcoming demeanor along with his respectful leadership style." The vote was unanimous. (lamorindaweekly.com)
