
A Concord man is behind bars today after firing 20 rounds inside his home and prompting the evacuation of neighboring homes and an hour-long standoff with police on Tuesday.
Kevin Sullivan, 49, allegedly opened fire inside his home in the 1500 block of Lexington Road around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, prompting neighbors to call 911.
Police said officers arriving on the scene heard and saw several gunshots coming from inside of the home and the backyard area. Officers set up a perimeter around the house and ordered the evacuation of several neighboring homes.

Police made several announcements ordering the shooter to come outside and a California Highway Patrol helicopter was called in to assist.
Sullivan emerged from the home unarmed about an hour later. He was arrested on suspicion of firing a gun in an inhabited dwelling, firing a gun in a negligent manner and for being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to police.

He was taken to county jail in Martinez, where he remained today.
Police said officers searched Sullivanβs home and found more than one gun that had been fired. The suspect apparently fired some 20 rounds from multiple guns, striking the outside of a neighboring house, police said.
No one else was inside Sullivanβs home at the time and no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.
