- More than 40 purse snatchings and robberies were recorded in a crime spree targeting Asian females across 4 counties, including Contra Costa County, over the last year. A group of three males has been arrested and charged with the crimes, police and prosecutors said. Anthony Michael Robinson, 24, of Stockton; Derje Damond Blanks, 23, of San Jose; and Cameron Alonzo Moody, 27, of East Palo Alto have been charged with theft crimes and hate crime enhancements. - A random act of violence has Brentwood police asking for the public's help. A man was attacked at Four Legs Brewing Company in the City of Brentwood. He had stopped in for a beer after a bike ride and a stranger hopped out of a white, possibly older 90’s Chevy pick-up, with a distinct dark spot on the roof and sprayed the man in the face with what appeared to be tear gas. The perpetrator then jumped on a skateboard and left the scene. Brewery workers and paramedics came to the man's aid, but tear gas cannot be easily removed from eyes and skin, so the man is still feeling the effects days later. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Dispatch at 925-809-7911. Callers may remain anonymous. (East County Today)
- The City of Pleasant Hill invites community members to volunteer their time helping out on projects throughout the city as part of the annual Community Service Day. The event starts at 9 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Click this article link to find projects and sign up! (Pioneer Publishers)
- The public is invited to join the East Bay Regional Park District and the Regional Parks Foundation in honoring the anniversaries of two historic East Bay icons – the well-loved Tilden Regional Park and Brazilian Room event venue. Tilden Regional Park is turning 85 years old and the Brazilian Room 80 years old. (News 24/680)
- The Contra Costa Teacher of the Year Gala will be held tonight honoring teachers from all of the districts in the county. There are four finalists for TOY and each will give a speech as part of the event. The Finalists are: Alisha Douglass, a ceramics teacher at Liberty High School in Brentwood; Kristen Plant, an English teacher at Miramonte High School in Orinda; Michelle Wilson, an English teacher at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon; and Christina Zenzano, an English teacher at Rancho Medanos Junior High School in Pittsburg.
