Robber Shot After Pulling Officer Into Getaway Vehicle: Police

A man suspected in an armed robbery was shot after pulling an Antioch officer into his getaway vehicle, police said.

ANTIOCH, CA — A man suspected in an armed robbery was shot after pulling an Antioch officer into the getaway vehicle early Friday, police said.

The alleged gunman received non-life-threatening injuries, and the officer suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police were called to the 4500 block of Lone Tree Way about 5:16 a.m. on a report of a robbery in progress.

When they arrived, a suspect rammed his car into one of the police cars.

An officer struggled with the driver and was pulled into the vehicle as it drove forward, striking both a police car and a store, police said.

The driver sped off with the officer trapped inside until the officer fired his weapon, wounding the suspect, police said.

The driver fled the vehicle on foot but was apprehended a short time later, police said.
