Police don't know yet why the suspect was in the theater, whether he was seeing a film or trespassing, but he allegedly said he had a gun and was going to kill the guard.
The guard chased the person outside where he told him to get down while pointing a gun at him, Blakely said.

The shooting took place in an alley between the theater and a parking structure.
Police cleared the theater and checked to see whether there were any other suspects. None were found and police closed the theater for the night, Blakely said.
The guard cooperated with police, who took him to the police station to be interviewed, police said. The streets in the area were reopened by 11:15 p.m.
