Here are the top stories today in Concord

  1. It's official: After a marathon board meeting, the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the development of a senior residential care facility in unincorporated Walnut Creek, deemed Seven Hills Ranch. The developer expects to build "354 housing units within 30 single-story buildings, an 85,000-square-foot medical center, a multi-story clubhouse, a recreation building, a maintenance building, and a parking garage on the 30-acre site." Opponents gathered about 4,000 signatures in a petition against the development, but they were ultimately unsuccessful. (Claycord.com)
  2. You gotta check out the Nightmare Before Christmas house at 876 St. John Circle in Concord! It'll make you feel like you are actually visiting Halloween Town. Tune your radio to 107.9 as you arrive, and the lights will be synched with the music you're listening to. Just watch out for Oogie Boogie! (Claycord.com)
  3. A silver SUV struck a pedestrian on Main Street in Oakley on Tuesday night, and police are looking for anyone who might have information in the case. The victim was transported to a local hospital with head injuries. Anyone with information is asked to please call the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060. (Contra Costa News)
  4. The Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) is getting two new firefighter paramedics per shift, which equals six new positions. In a 3-2 decision, the MOFD board approved the increased staffing. Concerns were raised as to funding for the positions, which would total $1.5 million per year. To watch the full discussion, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjpPll9hcDI&t=11560s. (lamorindaweekly.com)
