Sex Offender Sweep Nets 8 Arrests In Contra Costa County

About 70 law enforcement officers from throughout Contra Costa County were involved in the checks done at approximately 26 homes.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A multi-agency sweep led by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office led to the arrests of eight registered sex offenders, the sheriff's office reported Friday.

The Aug. 7 sweep to check compliance of registered sex offenders in the county included the efforts of the Concord Police Department, as well as police departments of Oakley, Walnut Creek, San Ramon, El Cerrito and San Pablo. The Contra Costa Probation, CDCR Parole and Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office also participated.

In total, about 70 law enforcement officers were involved in the checks done at approximately 26 homes throughout the county, according to the sheriff's office.

The eight registered sex offenders were arrested and booked into Martinez Detention Facility on various charges, including parole and probation violation, weapons possession, possession of child pornography, possession of pornography and possession of a controlled substance, according to the sheriff's office.
