Here are the top five stories in Concord today:

  1. Concord police responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot near BJ's on Contra Costa Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Saturday. Two vehicles that were linked to the incident were eventually located, both with damage from gunfire. The suspect vehicle was described as a newer model four-door Mercedes with tinted windows and blue, green and red LED lights near the wheels, police said. No further information was available at the time of publishing. (Claycord.com)
  2. What in the blazes? Lots of small fires popped up along Highway 4 and Highway 242 in Concord on Saturday. ConFire responded to six spot fires between Knoll Drive and southbound Highway 242. They have taken a suspect into custody in relation to the blazes. A suspect was also arrested for starting seven small fires along Highway 4. It's unknown if it's the same suspect. 4. Oh my GOSH! Do you guys remember the Banana Splits and Land of the Lost? If not, ask your parents if they do. I'm sure you'll get a huge smile. Both of those shows among many others are brainchildren of Sid and Marty Krofft and they will be celebrated on May 21 in Orinda when the Orinda Theatre will present the first ever KrofftKon! There will also be celebrity Q and As, costume and trivia contests, episodes from shows, capping it all off with a showing of the 1970 film Pufinstuf. 5. Lita restaurant in Walnut Creek has opened its doors and kitchen to the public with Caribbean flair! If you're curious about the cuisine, but want to know a bit more before you take the plunge, read this article from Diablo Magazine. It concluded by saying "While it's not inexpensive, Lita delivers a super-fun atmosphere with interesting, satisfying food and drink that don't break the bank." (Diablo Magazine)
