Concord is in the process of updating its local hazard mitigation plan to reduce loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters.

Help us identify projects that can reduce damage from future hazards by taking our quick survey. It is available in English, Spanish, Dari, Chinese, Tagalog and Vietnamese.

We are seeking input from those who live and/or work in Concord. Share your thoughts on the natural hazards that affect you most.

Hazard mitigation planning reduces loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters. It begins with state, tribal and local governments identifying natural disaster risks and vulnerabilities that are common in their area. After identifying these risks, they develop long-term strategies for protecting people and property from similar events. Mitigation plans are key to breaking the cycle of disaster damage and reconstruction.

• A Local Hazard Mitigation Plan brings awareness to natural hazards and vulnerabilities within a community.
• Creates partnerships between government, organizations, businesses, and members of the public.
• Public input during the planning process helps identify strategies for long-term risk reduction.
• By identifying areas of greater risk, mitigation actions and resources can be utilized more effectively.
