Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old PhD student at Washington State University near Moscow, Idaho was arrested in connection with the murders that happened there in November. Twenty-one-year-old Concord native Kaylee Goncalves was one of the victims. "Bryan Kohberger was taken into custody by police and the FBI around 3 a.m. Friday in Pennsylvania, according to reports." (Claycord.com)
  2. East Bay resident Isabel Bueso and her family will be allowed to remain in the U.S. so she can receive treatment for a rare disease, thanks to Congressman Mark DeSaulnier. He authored a bill that was signed into law by President Biden to ensure that she and others like her, who are in the U.S. to receive treatment, will not be deported. (Contra Costa News)
  3. Contra Costa County is under a flood watch that is likely to be upgraded to a warning. The "pineapple express" weather system that began last night will continue through today, saturating the ground and making flooding from the runoff more likely. (Concord Patch)
  4. Concord police officer K9 Nikki came to the rescue yet again! She was requested to assist Pleasant Hill police in taking down a male armed with a machete. The man was walking toward the Sunvalley Mall with a machete and knife. As soon as he saw Officer Nikki he dropped both weapons and surrendered to officers on scene. Nice work, K9 Nikki! (Concord Police K9 Association via Facebook)
  5. Jordan Douglas Krah, the Colorado man who was arrested on hate crime charges, and who was caught on video harassing customers at the San Ramon In-N-Out, may face additional charges back home in Colorado, according to officials. "Police in Denver have said they plan to have him extradited back to the Mile High City to face vehicular assault charges." (News 24/680)
