Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- Got a jones for a great burger, but your favorite burger joint is dark? Don't worry! Nation's Giant Hamburgers on Clayton Road is closed, but it's only temporary. The building is undergoing a $325,000 remodel that will take a few months. In the meantime, you can take your jones over to the location in Pleasant Hill. That location was recently remodeled. The Pittsburg location is next up for a facelift. (Claycord.com)
- This poor guy got a flat tire in the rain running through the mother of all potholes on I-680 in Pacheco on Tuesday. But he was soon hosting a party on the side of the road for a dozen or so other cars that got caught in the same pothole! CHP finally posted a car over the hole so more motorists would not succumb to its curse. (News 24/680)
- It's American Red Cross Month and "the Northern California Coastal Region of the Red Cross is honoring those who make its mission possible during the 80th annual American Red Cross Month celebration." As part of that celebration, you can give back by donating blood at several locations across Contra Costa County, including Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek. (Contra Costa News)
- The Delta's gettin' a haircut! California State Parks' Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) just started "this year's Aquatic Invasive Plant Control Program in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and its southern tributaries." Without this program, invasive plants would grow out of control. You can see the list of control actions in this article from Contra Costa News.
- Contra Costa College will participate in the Achieving the Dream program, which uses data collection and analysis to "help students succeed." (Concord Patch)
