- An annual survey of homelessness in Contra Costa County found significantly more residents without housing in 2022 than three years ago. "Contra Costa is using every available resource to address the need for both interim and permanent housing, but the housing crisis has only gotten worse during the pandemic, both here and across the state," said Karen Mitchoff, chair of the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors. To help bring more affordable housing to Contra Costa, the board established the Local Housing Trust Fund with $10 million from Measure X, the countywide sales tax that began in 2021. Measure X funds will contribute $12 million annually to the fund, administered by county agencies in part to support acquisition, construction, preservation and rehabilitation of affordable housing in the county. - On Saturday night, the Antioch Police Department responded to two sideshow activities within the City of Antioch. One took officers on a pursuit that didn't end until they got to Elk Grove. An officer and vehicles were attacked in the melee. According to preliminary information, one of the sideshows took place at Lone Tree Way and Blue Rock and later in the evening, a second sideshow was broken up at A Street and E 18th Street. Antioch Police have not released any official statements on either incident. (East County Today)

Are you a Concord resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
