Two Men Suspected Of Kidnapping, Holding Hostages At Gunpoint Go To Trial: Report

CONCORD, CA — Two men suspected of kidnapping two residents and wounding a man during a Concord home invasion robbery will soon face trial.
Their first court date is set for Nov. 16, the East Bay Times reported.
Cesar Carrasco-Avila, 20, and Erling Flores-Coello, 24, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, robbery, assault with a firearm, kidnapping, kidnapping for ransom, and attempted home invasion robbery stemming from the March 5, 2025, incident, according to the East Bay Times.

Prosecutors suspect the men met with other unidentified people at a 7-Eleven on Mohr Lane before converging on a home on Dumaine Street.
Residents were held at gunpoint with a shotgun, and a man inside the home was shot and wounded, according to reports.

Two people were held against their will, according to the criminal complaint. One, identified only as “Jane Doe 1,” was used to force another victim to surrender property, according to the East Bay Times.
Authorities charged Carrasco-Avila and Flores-Coello within days of the incident.
A September 2025 preliminary hearing resulted in an order for both men to stand trial, according to court documents cited by the East Bay Times.
Both men remain in custody. Judge Danielle Douglas will preside over their trial.
