Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- Fire crews in Concord were busy on Saturday, with two different fires sparked within the city. The first was an RV that caught fire while it was being towed. The vehicle looks to be completely destroyed. The second was a 3-alarm house fire on Babel Lane. That one closed the road in both directions. Con Fire says the blaze was contained to the outbuildings and no homes were destroyed in that one. (KRON4)
- Clayton police have a great picture of someone they would like to question in a package theft that occurred on November 25. If you know this person, Clayton police would like to talk with you. (Claycord.com)
- ConFire, with help from Walnut Creek police rescued someone who had fallen into the Contra Costa Canal in Walnut Creek. A witness said they had seen the person in a tree before falling into the canal. The person was alert and talking with rescuers. (Claycord.com)
- A woman needed to be rescued from a ravine near Shadow Cliffs Lake in Pleasanton. The woman had followed her dog into the ravine and had gotten stuck in the mud. She called authorities just after 3:30 Saturday afternoon, when she became trapped in muddy, swampy water about a foot deep. Authorities were able to pull her to safety and neither she nor her dog was injured. (SF Chronical via MSN)
- Mt. Diablo Education Foundation has a goal to raise $12,000 for STEAM programs on Giving Tuesday. They are asking you (and me) to spread the word, and I'm up for the challenge. "These donations ensure that all students in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, regardless of zip code, have access to quality STEAM opportunities." (Pioneer Publishers)
