- Two people received serious injuries in a shooting incident that unfolded Sunday night on Haller Court in Concord.

Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- Gunshots rang out on the 1600 block of Haller Court Sunday night. Neighbors said they heard a "flurry of gunshots." They also said they heard screaming coming from the area just before first responders arrived. Police located two gunshot victims who were suffering from serious injuries. "The investigation revealed it was a gang related drive-by shooting and information was obtained about the suspect car." Two adult males have been arrested and charged with attempted murder. - The United States Postal Service will hold hiring events in Concord and Walnut Creek in anticipation of a busy holiday season. USPS is looking to hire 500 individuals throughout the East Bay region. The Concord event will take place at the Concord Main Post Office on Nov. 2, from noon to 4 p.m. Walnut Creek will hold two events: at the Walnut Creek Post Office from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 and from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at the same location. - Clayton Mayor Peter Cloven is touting his city's website, www.clayton.ca.gov. He says it's a great place to learn all there is to know about his city and to keep up on current city events. Cloven wants you to take special note of the bottom of the website, where you can find "Results of Survey of Clayton Voters Regarding Potential Tax Measure." He is using these results which "provided clear direction to the City Council." (Pioneer Publishers)
- A vegetation fire on westbound Highway 4 near I-160 in Antioch closed two lanes of the highway Monday morning as firefighters tried to get a handle on the blaze. The fire spread to about 1 acre before it was substantially contained. The fire broke out around 6:40 a.m., and by 7:20 a.m. firefighters had it under control. (East County Today)

As a thank-you for taking the time to give this fall, all who come to give Nov.1-22 will receive a $10 e-gift card by email to a merchant of choice. Details are available at rcblood.org/perks." - Join your neighbors in Walnut Creek for their 13th Annual Spooktacular Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event on October 28 in Downtown Walnut Creek. Start at Broadway Plaza to pick up an event map, and don't forget to wear your Halloween costume!
- The Antioch Library is hosting Shahrzad Dancers, an Iranian/Persian dance group, in their presentation of "World of Rainbow" on November 9. Recommended for children from birth to 9 years old.
