USPS Seeking 500 Employees In East Bay, Holding Concord Hiring Event
Hiring events are planned at numerous post offices throughout the East Bay, including in Concord.

CONCORD, CA — The U.S. Postal Service will be hiring 500 positions in the East Bay as the holiday season approaches, it was announced last week.
Several hiring events are planned over the coming days and positions are available in a variety of areas, the Postal Service said Friday in a news release.
Positions are available in mail processing, delivery, transportation and maintenance. The jobs could extend beyond the holiday season, USPS said.

To fill the vacancies, the following hiring events will be held this week and next week:
- Noon- 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the San Ramon Post Office, 12935 Alcosta Blvd.
- 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Berkeley Main Post Office, 2000 Allston Way
- 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Lao Family Services at 2325 E. 12th Street in Oakland
- Noon - 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Walnut Creek Post Office, 2070 N. Broadway
- Noon - 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Concord Main Post Office, 2121 Meridian Park Blvd.
- Noon - 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Walnut Creek Post office, 2070 N. Broadway
During the hiring events, applicants will hear from real employees and at some locations will be able to submit their applications in real-time for positions posted on the USPS website.

Those wishing to apply for a job with USPS must be a U.S. Citizen or hold five years of permanent resident status, be at least 18 years of age, or 16 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and must be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation. Some positions do require an exam, the USPS said, adding that any position that has a driving requirement will also require a valid driver’s license and clean DMV 2-year driving history. Citizenship or permanent resident status of five years is required.
