Vehicle, Home Burglary Surge In Concord, Police Warn

Police warn thieves are targeting several vehicle makes and models across Concord as property crimes rise.

CONCORD, CA — Concord police are investigating a recent spike in residential burglaries, vehicle break-ins, and attempted vehicle thefts reported across the city.

While the department did not immediately report any numbers, they said residents should lock vehicles, remove valuables, and stay alert.

Investigators say thieves are increasingly targeting pickup trucks, work trucks, and construction equipment left inside. They are also focusing on specific makes of passenger vehicles, including Lexus, Honda, and Acura.

Break-ins have been reported in neighborhoods throughout the city, according to Concord police.

Residents can reduce the risk of break-ins, according to police, by locking all doors and windows, removing tools, equipment, and valuables whenever possible, and never leaving keys or key fobs inside vehicles.

They also recommended parking inside secured garages, parking in well-lit areas, and using steering wheel locks, GPS tracking devices, and vehicle alarm systems.

Additionally, the department said security cameras can help deter theft and aid investigations.

Investigators noted that thieves often target unlocked vehicles or property left in plain sight. Even a brief period of time unattended can create an opportunity for criminals to strike, according to Concord police.

The department is asking residents to immediately report people, vehicles, or activity that appear out of the ordinary.
