- The $150 million SDS Supportive Housing Fund — a first-of-its-kind private-equity impact fund that finances new, financially-sustainable permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness – has closed $10 million in funding to develop modular housing in Concord. The project site at 1325-1335 Galindo St., Concord will soon to be transformed into 72 one-bedroom and three two-bedroom units. The Galindo complex is the Fund's first Bay Area project. (PR Newswire)
- By mid-month, photos of wild snakes – especially rattlesnakes – were showing up on social media pages of both hikers and non-hikers in the Bay Area. At least one was near downtown Walnut Creek. And as it gets warmer this year, more snakes will be out, warming their cold reptile blood in the sunshine. Peter J. Flowers, the wildlife hospital and rehabilitation manager at Walnut Creek's Lindsay Wildlife Experience, confirmed it's early for snakes to be so active. "If you see one on a path, walk around and leave it alone and warn others around you. Do not try to move the snake," Flowers said. "If you have one in your yard you can contact a snake removal service that will find it a new home." (Claycord.com)
- On March 22, members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Central County SWAT Team conducted an arrest warrant service in unincorporated Walnut Creek. 22-year-old Anthony Hamid was arrested for attempted murder related to the July 6, 2020 shooting on Homestead Avenue and Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek. Hamid remains in custody awaiting trial on $3,250,000 bail. (Claycord.com)
- Since 1997, the Concord chamber has partnered with Mt. Diablo Unified School District to provide a variety of programs to bring together the business community with educators. One program the chamber co-sponsors is BEST Day – Business and Educators Shadowing for Tomorrow. This is a half-day program providing job-shadowing opportunities for teachers in a variety of industries. This year, the chamber hosted three teachers. After shadowing for a few hours, the educators and chamber staff reconvened with the rest of the teachers to share everyone's experiences. (Pioneer Publishers)
- Agemark Senior Living recently recognized several of the company's senior living communities as well as individuals from those communities in a company-wide virtual awards ceremony. TreVista Senior Living and Memory Care in Antioch is under the direction of Executive Director Alberto Maldonado. He began leading the community in August 2020 and says the team is honored to be recognized by Agemark. (Contra Costa Herald)

Where should you invest as a Concord resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there's a new investment Concord residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now and many of them chose it.
This may surprise you, but it's fine art.
Growing your nest egg with art isn't new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.
Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.
Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.
The best part? Anyone from your area can skip their waitlist*.
