- The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors recognized John Clauser at its meeting yesterday. The Walnut Creek resident took home the Nobel Prize in physics last month for his work on quantum information science. He will share his $900,000 prize with two other physicists — one from France and one from Austria. (Claycord.com)
- As we approach the November 8 election, there are lots of opportunities to receive misinformation and disinformation. The Pioneer has some tips on how to identify information you should not rely upon, and steps you can take to stop the information from spreading. (Pioneer Publishers)
- ConFire's Contra Costa Regional Fire Communications Center earned accreditation from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch. This distinction signifies that ConFire's dispatch center is performing at or above industry standards. Dispatch centers are expected to lead development of alternative emergency response procedures that could improve services for the communities they serve. (East County Today)
- East Bay artist Pam Stefl Toki's work was unveiled at the Orinda Library. The work, entitled "Shift," depicts "humanity's shift into raised awareness and to the new reality that Toki feels all of us are experiencing." Head over to the library and check it out! - California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control received a grant of $3.27 million to dole out to 20 law enforcement agencies, including some in Contra Costa County, for the purpose of helping to curb underage drinking. Each agency will receive up to $50,000 for compliance programs and holiday enforcement. (Claycord.com)
