Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- A disturbing incident unfolded at the In-N-Out in San Ramon on Christmas Eve, and it was caught on video. A pair of diners was filming themselves trying some of the items on the In-N-Out menu, when a man approached them and used inappropriate language to address them. The man approached them several times. Ultimately, the pair ignored the man, but he was persistent and other diners were also harassed, as caught on the same video. (KRON4 via MSN)
- Restaurants and bars on Locust and Bonanza streets in Walnut Creek will have to deal with a sewer line replacement in front of their establishments for the next 18 months. East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) and Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central Sans) say the project will start January 3, 2023, on Locust Street, between Mt. Diablo and Civic. "These utilities are over 75 years old and in dire need of replacement," said Assistant Public Works Director Steve Waymire. "Our plan is to get this work done, then pave the road, fix the sidewalks, and have a nice clean slate for future outdoor dining." (Walnut Creek Magazine)
- We're in for a nasty day today, weatherwise, Concord! We're right in the path of a "pineapple express" weather system headed for us straight from Guam. Here in the East Bay, we could see one to two inches of rain, and areas up in the Santa Cruz Mountains could be looking at as much as 5 inches of precipitation. Be careful out there today! (Mercury News via MSN)
- Two very close electoral races in Contra Costa drove a recount. At the end of the process, though, the results did not change. Tamisha Torres-Walker, running for re-election for Antioch City Council District 1, will keep her seat and "Cesar Zepeda's election to the Richmond City Council was also confirmed following the completion of the recount on Friday." (Contra Costa Herald)
