Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. If you thought the winds during this last storm were crazy, you were right! Check out the pictures of overturned planes at Buchanan Field! Fortunately, nobody was inside or near the planes when it happened and no one was hurt. (KRON4)
  2. Those winds that toppled the airplanes also knocked down trees around the area. One particularly large tree was downed on Ygnacio Valley Road near Wiget Lane in Walnut Creek. The tree closed the roadway while crews worked to break it down. The road was back open by late Tuesday evening. (Claycord.com)
  3. Power was knocked out for more than 7,000 Concord-area residents on Tuesday. Crews got to work on the outages right away, but were stretched thin, as more than 275,000 Bay Area residents were without power, "including 88,621 in the East Bay." (Concord Patch)
  4. If you like the nasty weather we've been having, you're in for a treat! Believe it or not, two more atmospheric rivers are gearing up off the coast and none of coastal California will escape their wrath. "According to state climatologist Michael Anderson, most of Northern California and virtually the entire coast of the state are likely to receive an average of "between 2 and 6 inches of rain over the next six days." More flooding is expected. Yuck! (Claycord.com)
  5. With controversy running high in the wake of the BART Inspector General's resignation, Tri-Valley Sen. Steve Glazer introduced Senate Bill 827, which would confer more power to the office of the BART IG. "The bill would expand the scope of the Office of the Inspector General, allowing it to access all records, documents, accounts, reports, communication or other property of BART or its third-party contractors." BART representatives said transit authority officials are "broadly in support" of this bill. (danvillesanramon.com)
