Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- The Mount Diablo Unified School District is holding a town hall meeting to discuss some of the recent events on campus that "do not align with our values and are in conflict with our goals." The district cites incidents of racial slurs and hate graffiti as examples. Families and community members are urged to attend the town hall on February 21 at Pine Hollow Middle School to discuss concerns and provide input. (Claycord.com)
- A woman was shot by a masked gunman in San Ramon on Saturday night. Authorities were called to the 900 block of Waterstone Place after neighbors reported hearing gunfire at approximately 11:00 pm. Officers located the victim and transported her to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The assailant is still at large. (News 24/680)
- The driver of a Tesla died and his passenger was injured early Saturday morning when the car slammed into the back of a firetruck that was blocking lanes on I-680. The firetruck was positioned in the freeway on the northbound lanes near Treat Boulevard to protect personnel from an accident that had happened earlier. The passenger in the Tesla was taken to the hospital with major injuries and the four firefighters who were on the truck went to the hospital as a precautionary measure. (News 24/680)
- Lafayette Partners in Education will fund an endowment meant to serve as "a long-term solution to the inconsistent funding provided by the state." The nonprofit education foundation revealed that it already has contributions of $8.7 million, with a $12 million goal. (lamorindaweekly.com)
- If you're driving out to Danville any time after February 21, you may notice a difference in the traffic signals in the town. "The Town will convert left turn signal heads to include flashing yellow left turn arrows (FYA) at the intersections of Diablo Road-El Pintado Road and Diablo Road-Front Street." It just means you need to yield to oncoming traffic. (danville.ca.gov)

- Have you been to Walnut Creek's new Italian pinseria, Montesecaro? According to Diablo Magazine "dinner begins with a wonderful selection of antipasti that complement the robust wine list." While most go for the pinsa, a robust menu harkens back to "a neighborhood trattoria, similiar (sic) to those found in the suburbs of Rome." Sounds like a lovely place for a Monday dinner tonight!
- It's not too early to start thinking about summer! Walnut Creek arts & rec has the list of summer camps posted and ready for you to enroll your little ones. How about carpentry camp, or French camp? Lots of options to choose from!
