Video: Four-Year-Old Girl Airlifted After Concord Hit-and-Run

A 4-year-old girl and victim of a hit-and-run was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday evening after she was hit by a car while playing on Sixth Street near Clayton Road.

Police are investigating the 6:30 p.m. hit-and-run in which the child sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries - mostly to her foot - according to information from the Concord Police Deparmtment.

Officers are on the look-out for a light blue newer model pickup truck, with raised or lifted oversize tires. Police say there is possible damage to the right and front headlight area of the truck and ask that anyone with information contact the number at the bottom of this article.

The girl was flown by a life-line REACH helicopter, which landed at Loma Vista Adult Education Center, to Oakland Children's Hospital, according to a ConFire official.

A Tuesday evening report by KTVU news alleged the girl was dragged by the pickup truck for half-a-block, but a police Lt. said that's not accurate. Concord police said in a statement and clarified via email that the investigation into the incident shows the girl was playing in front of the apartment building at the 3200 block of Sixth street, and was struck after entering the roadway. 

This is the second airlift to take in place in Concord this week: a 2-year-old girl was also transported to the Children's Hospital after being mauled by her family's pit bull. That dog has been euthanized. Click here for more on that story.
