This makes the fourth new East Coast destination from San Diego in four years.

SAN DIEGO -- Residents of the area who either are from the East Coast or visit there occasionally will have a new flight option as of next spring.

On Nov. 16, Alaska Airlines announced plans to continue its expansion from the West Coast with new nonstop service between San Diego and Baltimore, beginning March 15, 2017.

"Our San Diego customers will soon enjoy nonstop flights to this historic seaport city, as well as easy access to the nation's capital nearby," John Kirby, Alaska Airlines' vice president of capacity planning, said in a statement.
