Today's riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Parker Pump Station complete ahead of expected severe El Niño winter (coronadotimes.com) — Coronado's new $32 million Parker Pump Station is now operational, aiming to prevent the kind of flooding and sewer failures residents saw in January 2024. The upgraded system handles stormwater and sewage from key neighborhoods as the city braces for a potentially severe El Niño winter, with final site work and a small public green space expected by early fall.
• Navy Region Southwest welcomes new commander in Coronado ceremony (kpbs.org) — Leadership at Naval Base Coronado has changed hands, with Rear Adm. David J. Faehnle taking command of Navy Region Southwest during a ceremony on base. He now oversees shore operations, support services, and quality-of-life programs for sailors and families across six states, continuing the region's focus on readiness and community partnerships begun under Rear Adm. Rich Jarrett.
• Senator Weber Pierson Announces Legislation to Help Move Midway Rising Forward (ca.gov) — Coronado residents are represented by Senator Akilah Weber Pierson, who just introduced SB 344 to help move San Diego's massive Midway Rising redevelopment forward after its environmental review. While the project is in San Diego's Midway District, its thousands of planned affordable homes, jobs, and services could influence regional housing, employment, and economic trends that affect Coronado too.
