• Coronado challenges county in sewage water testing methods (thecoronadonews.com) — Coronado's mayor is pressing San Diego County for answers on sewage-related ocean water testing that has sharply increased local beach closures since 2022. At issue is whether the newer, faster ddPCR method is overly sensitive compared with the older Enterolert test, and whether state-set safety thresholds are unnecessarily keeping Coronado's shoreline closed. County and EPA officials defend ddPCR, while the city cites its own study suggesting many closures may be false alarms.
