With help from a sheriff's helicopter and National City police, officers took the man into custody without injuries. 2. Meals On Wheels Coronado (coronadonewsca.com) — Coronado residents who need help with daily meals can sign up for affordable, home-delivered lunches and dinners prepared by Meals on Wheels San Diego and brought by Sharp Coronado Hospital Auxiliary volunteers. Beyond nutrition, each weekday delivery doubles as a wellness check for clients. Volunteers will share information and brochures at the Oct. 6 Senior Social at the Spreckels Center.
3. How to prevent and protect from West Nile virus (thecoronadonews.com) — After Coronado residents recently contracted West Nile virus, county health officials are urging locals to protect themselves from mosquito bites and reduce standing water around homes. Simple steps like using repellent, wearing long sleeves, and checking window screens can cut risk. Dumping out water in buckets, pet bowls, birdbaths, and neglected pools helps stop mosquitoes from breeding nearby.
4. Coronado Boys' Water Polo Team Goes 2-2 At AFC Tourney (coronadonewsca.com) — Coronado High School's boys' water polo team just wrapped up the Americas Finest City Tournament with a hard-fought 2-2 record, highlighted by two dramatic 11-10 wins.
