ATT Boosts Network Capacity for MLB All-Star Weekend
Telecom Giant Hits a Home Run for Expanding Network Coverage to Its San Diego Customers
San Diego, CA — AT&T is rounding the bases with network coverage for its San Diego customers for the MLB All-Star Game and the activities leading up to the game across the city.
The weekend of events kicked off with a Budweiser MLB All-Star Concert series on Friday, July 8 with performances by One Republic, followed by Gwen Stefani and Tori Kelly on Saturday, July 9. Other events this weekend included a five-day Fanfest, a morning of Yoga, 5k run, a celebrity softball game, three day block party, home run derby, and of course, the culminating event: The 87th MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 12.
Based on previous MLB All-Star weekends, the outpouring of events are anticipated to bring about 140,000 fans to the downtown San Diego/Petco Park areas. If you ask us, that's a lot of people on their phones taking pictures, generating Google searches, sending Snapchats, positing Instagrams, tweets, and Facebook statuses.

To ensure a seamless experience for all the snaps, tweets and texts, AT&T launched a new Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at Petco Park. The DAS system boosts network capacity, helping lessen the pressure on wireless networks when thousands of people close together are using their mobile devices all at once. In addition to the DAS at Petco Park, AT&T is also boosting coverage for fans taking part in All-Star weekend festivities in other parts of the city. There are in-building cell sites installed at the San Diego Convention Center so fans can take all the selfies they want during meet and greets with baseball legends.
As thousands of baseball fans descend upon San Diego to take in the all-star baseball action, they will have their smartphones in hand, able to share all the most exciting moments with their friends and family in a timely fashion thanks to AT&T.
