Audition Notice: Dearly Beloved

Synopsis:

A
Texas southern wedding goes hilariously off-course in this fast-paced comedy
romp about love, marriage, sisterhood, gospel music and three hundred pounds of
good ol’ Texas barbeque. After the breakup of their almost-famous gospel trio,
The Futrelle Sisters – Frankie, Honey Raye and Twink – are throwing a Gone With
The Wind-themed wedding for their niece Tina Jo, and the rumor mill in their
small town of Fayro, Texas, is working overtime. The sisters ultimately pull
together to find ways to keep the unsuspecting guests in the pews while a local
highway patrolman races off to track down the runaway bride and groom.

Open Auditions:  June 22 and 23 at
7pm

Callbacks (Invitation Only): June 25 at 7pm

MISS
GENEVA MUSGRAVE - 45-65 YRS

Cantankerous, know it all, gossipy, bossy business owner
of only florist/bus depot in Fayro, Texas. Strong acting skills and comfortable
with improv, and audience pre show interaction

TINA JO/GINA JO DUBBERLY - 18-29 YRS

One actress plays both roles, twin sisters, TJ is bride,
and GJ is maid of honor, GJ is naïve about love, romance, innocent, and takes
her job as chief cow inseminator very seriously, love interest to Justin
Waverly, daughter of Frankie and Dub Dubberly

HONEY RAYE FUTRELLE - 55 YRS

Oldest of the 3 Futrelle sisters, thinks and acts like
she is a sexy 30 yrs old beauty, many marriages, and always needs a man, denies
she is going through menopause, great acting chops, comedy, improve, wears way
too tight blinge clothing, has left Fayro but returns for TJ’s wedding without
the knowledge of her 2 sisters

FRANKIE FUTRELLE DUBBERLY- 45 YRS

Youngest of the Futrelle sisters, mother of the bride,
always speaks to deceased mother when she is exploring her own thoughts about
family, etc., married to Dub, but is concerned he is now cheating on her, she
wants the wedding to be the best social event in Fayro and believes the “Gone
with the Wind” theme wedding is the answer.  She is most emotional of all
the sisters, has her own secret, great interaction with all character
throughout production, strong acting skills

DUB DUBBERLY - 45-60 YRS

Good old county boy, husband to Frankie, tries to be
happy go lucky, but Frankie has been mad at him all through the wedding
planning, he loves both of his daughter, but is more of a man’s man. 
Appears very simple in his thinking but he really does have a heart of gold and
will do whatever it takes to please his wife and two daughters, but he just
does not seem to be getting any of it right

TWINK FUTRELLE - 50 YRS

Middle of the Futrelle sisters, single but desperate to
get married to fiancé Wiley Hicks, good hearted person but cut all the corners
for the wedding dinner (uses pot lunch approach, county discarded cheese, and
lets butcher advertise at wedding for supplying food), since she believes Wiley
needs to witness this wedding to marry her, she does everything to get him to
the wedding even if he is sick.  Strong acting role, comedy, physicality
at times and a large range of emotions required.

NELDA LIGHTFOOT - 20-65 YRS

Female (or male in drag) local psychic, one scene
only but great character part , she is all about getting paid for services, she
does  a tarot card and palm  reading for Twink.

JUSTIN WAVERLY - 20-35 YRS

Seminarian, UPS delivery man, love interest to Gino Jo,
innocent as Gino Jo, called to perform the ceremony, only seminary student so
scared to death, honest, afraid to let GJ know he is interested in her, great
monologue scene where he speaks to God, always trying to find the courage to be
a man in all aspects of his life, wears short throughout and comes across as
awkward, timid and cute (in boyish way) at beginning, good comedy timing
required

JOHN CURTIS BUNTNER - 30-50 YRS

Highway Patrol, Dub best friend, good old boy cop, not
too smart and loves to pretend he is a big time “police officer, detective
type” chasing down criminals, etc. like to play with his gun, etc., probably
watches all the police shows on TV, and wishes he was like them, but there is
nothing going on in Fayro amounting to major crime. Good comedy timing,
(slapstick funny, improve skills too) at end love interest for Honey Raye,
possible next husband for her

WILEY HICKS - 40-60 YRS

Twink’s finance of many years, another good old country
boy, but suffering from a cold and way too medicated (by Twink), disoriented
from the beginning, and only get worse during the play.  Rumbled suite,
staggering, stumbling (words and actions) and falling all over everything,
great character part, must be able to carry off over medicated, comedy timing
and improve a must.

PATSY PRICE - 45-60 YRS

Tina Jo’s future mother in law, who will do ANYTHING to
make sure the marriage does not happen, high society is what she is all about,
dresses exquisitely, looks down on the Futtrelle family, (all those “not
her kind” as she described others) insults all since they are not at her level
as she sees herself, thinks she and her family are too good for these common
people.  Cutting edge insults are her calling card.
