Body ID'd as Missing Navy Wife Elizabeth Sullivan
Her body was recovered near Liberty Station two years after she disappeared.

SAN DIEGO -- A body pulled from San Diego Bay has been identified as that of a woman who had been the subject of an ongoing search since she mysteriously disappeared two years ago.
Authorities said Dec. 7 that the body is that of Elizabeth Sullivan, a 31-year-old Navy wife and mother of two young girls who went missing from her Point Loma home two years earlier.
Sullivan's body was found in the water off the 2600 block of Farragut Road on Oct. 6., nearly two years after her disappearance. Homicide detectives have since launched an investigation into her death, San Diego Police Lt. Mike Holden said.

Sullivan went missing the night of Oct. 13, 2014. She was last heard from that day via text message, according to San Diego police. Her phone was later shut off.
About a month after her disappearance, Sullivan's husband gave an interview with People magazine in which he said the couple had been having marital difficulties and that she had sometimes stayed out, but was never gone longer than overnight.

In addition to the ongoing police search, Sullivan's family members had hired a private detective, distributed missing person fliers and set up social media pages dedicated to the search efforts. A GoFundMe.com account was also set up to help fund the efforts and raise money for a reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
Family members later said in an update on the fundraising site that all local hospitals, morgues, jails, homeless and women's shelters have been checked several times and that her information had been added to a national law enforcement database.
Law enforcement officials said Dec. 7 that the case is still ongoing and that no persons of interest have yet been identified.
