NEW  BLACK BELTS AT MARTIAL ARTS AMERICA

Developing unshakeable self-esteem is serious business.  For the past 23 years, Coronado’s Martial Arts America has made it its mission to do just that. With an outstanding karate program we have been able to graduate one group after another of outstanding leaders, men and women, boys and girls of all ages whose achievement of black belt not only reflect their own accomplishment but reflect on their families and our community as a whole.

Local businessmen and women, F-18 fighter pilots and navySEALS, kids who are athletes and ones who are brainy nerds, people who were overweight and underweight, too this or too that, all were able to succeed and become black belts through the Martial Arts America program.

Determining if a student is ready to be a black belt has alot more to do with their character then their technical skills. At the same time, the technical skills required demand at least three and more likely four years of regular uninterrupted practice.

Having said that, there are several levels of black belt,starting with Peewee black belt for children who begin their journey at a young age of four or five.  The requirements for them to achieve a peewee black belt are closer to two years.  Juniors who are ages seven to twelve require about three and a half years and teens and adults usually require a little more time due to the fact that their lives  are a little busier.

On Saturday June 30,  two students from Coronado’s Martial Arts America received their black belts:  Aram Lacher for Shodan and Arjavon Talebzadeh for Junior Black Belt.   The black belt promotion lasted from 10 AM to 1:30 PM and was a grueling workout during which the candidates had to display their ability and their stamina in front of a three judge panel. The panel included Sensei Miko Peled, 6th degree black belt, Sensei Mel Pralgo, 6th degree black belt and Sensei David Adams, 3rd degree black belt.
