Cabrillo National Monument Is Free on Easter

The Cabrillo National Monument will offer free admission today as part of National Parks Week.

The park at the tip of Point Loma, which offers spectacular views of San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, along with a rocky shoreline and tidepools, normally costs $5 per vehicle or $3 per person who walks or bikes into Cabrillo.

The iconic Point Loma Lighthouse is currently closed for a seismic retrofit project. However, the assistant keeper's quarters, kelp forest overlook and restrooms are remaining open.

The monument's visitors center will shut down for its own seismic retrofit beginning May 19, according to park officials.

The park, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., can be entered at the end of Catalina Boulevard.
