Car Plunges Into San Diego Bay in Coronado, 2 Rescued

The two victims were transported to a hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

CORONADO, CA – Two people were rescued from San Diego Bay Sunday morning after their car plunged into the water near a hotel in Coronado, according to police.

Officers responded to the Loews Coronado Bay Resort at 4000 Coronado Bay Road at about 1:30 a.m., where the victims were being pulled from the water by witnesses, police said.

The two victims were transported to a hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

Their vehicle was submerged in about 12 feet of water. Harbor Police were assisting with the recovery of the vehicle.

It was unknown if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
