CHS Track Now Open to Public; New Lights Installed at Cays Tennis Court
The city of Coronado and the school district agreed to open the track during certain hours. The tennis lights are on a trial basis.

CORONADO, CA — The Coronado High School track and field will be open to the public more often under a new agreement between the city of Coronado and the Coronado Unified School District.
According to city officials, the district and the city made an agreement in June to open up some school facilities for community use. As part of the agreement, they decided that effective Oct. 1, the track and field at the high school located at 650 D Ave. will be open on weekends, school breaks and most holidays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for public use.
In other outdoor fitness-related news, new LED lights were installed last week at the Cays Tennis Court, Court 4. The old metal bulbs did not meet International Tennis Federation recommended standards, so a contractor has installed LED lighting on a trial basis. Lights shields also were installed to reduce the amount of glare to the neighborhood. If the lights prove acceptable, other courts will be retrofitted as funding permits, according to city officials.
