Comic-Con 2013 kicked off Thursday with panels on TV shows and movies, loads of expensive and sought-after toys and big crowds as usual.
The ever-expanding event is bursting at the seams, with some screenings being held at the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza, in addition to the events and displays at Petco Park and all along the Gaslamp.
The layout of the San Diego Convention Center Exhibit Hall has been tweaked a little this year, with the northern end of the hall now turned over to video game companies previewing their upcoming blockbusters.
Meanwhile, elaborate displays on "The Walking Dead", "Thor" and "Star Wars" command attention in the middle of the hall.
Here are just some images from Day One.
