Coronado Community Association of Neighbors

Last night, I went to a meeting of Coronado CAN.  I recommend you do the same when you're able.

I have to admit I had some doubts about the organization.  I didn't know much about them, other than their sponsorship of a forum before the last election.  I didn't go to the event, but from talking to several attendees, I concluded that Coronado CAN was essentially a PAC for one of the mayoral candidates.

I couldn't have been more wrong.  At last night's meeting, I found a fiercely non-partisan group of Nado residents.  Their mission is to increase awareness & understanding of issues involving the City.  To the extent they have an agenda, it's to spread the word and let people make up their own minds.  They're more like a media organization, or maybe a think-tank, than a PAC.

So I'm going to give them a shot.  I'll start by attending Sen Marty Block's event tomorrow morning at the Community Center, and writing up what Mr Block presents.  Upon editorial approval, the piece will appear over at the Coronado CAN site.
