Coronado Summer History Camp 2014

This summer, the Coronado Historical Association will once again present a fun and educational week-long day camp for kids entering grades 3 through 6.

This program features a new historical theme each day combining education and fun, including plenty of time outside in the sunshine. Weekly activities include field trips to the Hotel del Coronado and Spreckels Park, craft projects, scavenger hunts, re-enacting some of the island’s most historic moments and walking tours around the island.

The camp, based at the Coronado Museum of History & Art (1100 Orange Avenue), is also designed to give children of Coronado a unique opportunity to experience life within a history museum.   Campers will get a behind-the-scenes look at how a museum functions, discover how their community is connected to the past, and learn why studying and preserving history is important.

Six four-day camp sessions (Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.) will be offered.  Session start dates are: June 9, June 16, June 23, July 7, July 21 and August 4.                                                            

Cost per session is $140 for CHA members; $160 for non-members.  Active-duty military families are eligible for a 10% discount.  A single-day rate of $50 is also available.
